Five Global Networks were established at the WDA 4th Global Assembly Executive Council Meeting held in Tokyo, Japan on 1-2 August 2000. They are: · Education & Training · Creation & Presentation · Research & Documentation · Status & Welfare · Management & Promotion
Education & Training Network Encompasses many areas within the teaching field ranging from professional training in various dance techniques, history and theory to the teaching of dance to general primary and secondary students, recreational dancers and so forth.
Creation & Presentation Network Covers the many activities related to the creation and performance of dance and may involve the choreographer, arranger/stager, performers and other collaborators such as composers, designers and other artists.
Research & Documentation Network Involves a variety of scholars who describe, analyse, interpret and evaluate the phenomena of dance such as historians, anthropologists, ethnographers, notators, theorists, critics and so forth.
Status and Welfare Network Deals with issues relating to the recognition of dance as an acceptable career choice and as an important part of general education. It also addresses health matters from insurance benefits to injury prevention and treatment.
Management & Promotion Network Focuses on the administrative aspects of the dance field including marketing and fund raising, and involves presenters, agents, company managers and the like.
Goals The general goals of the WDA Networks are to: · provide an international forum for the exchange of ideas · plan and implement projects which facilitate exchange · identify needs and dreams for the Field of Dance · propose projects which address those needs and dreams · link other international organisations to the WDA Networks · look at world-wide standards in all aspects of dance
